Rolf Luft Minisymposium at Karolinska Institutet

On 25 November, the INITIALISE contributed to the Rolf Luft Minisymposium at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The symposium gathered researchers and clinicians working in diabetes and metabolic disease research.

During the programme, Professor Jonny Ludvigsson (Linköping University), delivered the lecture “Efforts to Preserve Insulin-Producing Cells.” The presentation addressed strategies aimed at protecting and preserving pancreatic beta cells, a core research priority that aligns closely with the scientific objectives of INITIALISE.

At the same event, Professor Ludvigsson received the Kerstin Brismar Award 2025, newly established by the Rolf Luft Diabetes Foundation to recognise translational diabetes research that bridges basic science and patient-oriented studies. He was awarded for his work on strategies to maintain beta-cell function before diagnosis and to improve outcomes after disease onset

The symposium provided a forum to share INITIALISE-related research with specialists and foster scientific dialogue within the diabetes research community.
