INITIALISE at Aberdeen Science Festival – Café Controversial

On 24 September 2025, the INITIALISE project contributed to the University of Aberdeen Science Festival through participation in the Café Controversial event. The Aberdeen Science Festival featured a discussion event titled Café Controversial – What does it take to make the world a better place? as part of its wider programme of science engagement activities.

Peng Liu, Research Fellow from our partner institute University of Aberdeen, delivered an oral presentation entitled “SAFeR Study Research – Abortion, Bio-banks and Fetal Exposure.” His presentation addressed topics related to abortion, bio-banks, and fetal exposure, highlighting ethical and scientific considerations associated with early-life exposure research.

The event provided an opportunity to engage both members of the public and the research community in discussion around sensitive and complex research themes relevant to INITIALISE.
